Great helmet with unique styleMar 02, 2010
By Patrick Wong As a reference, this is the first snow helmet I have ever used or owned. I was a never a big proponent of helmets but after thinking about it for a bit, there really is no good justification for not wearing one. This is especially true when there are helmets out there like the Smith Optics Hustle. I was very skeptical at first that I would be comfortable wearing a helmet all day on the mountain. I have to say though that there was almost no adjustment time before I did not even notice I had the helmet on. As long as you preset the chin strap and tighten the inner band in the back before going out, the Hustle fits very well and does not require much changes once on the mountain. I bought the Grandstand version of the helmet and I really like the style of it. My only gripe is that the picture only shows one side of the helmet. I did not know that one side was going to have red straps while the other side was going to have white straps. A smaller annoyance I have is that the ear flaps are tricky to get in and out. This wouldn't be much of an issue if they vented better but they don't (I suppose this is because they are skull candy headphone compatible but not sure). You will definitely want to remove the helmet if you are indoors for an extended amount of time. There are vents on the top that can be opened and closed (which is a really cool feature btw) but they do little to solve the heat build-up from the ear flaps. Overall though I really do like this helmet. It has unique style, fits very well, and does not get in the way while on the mountain.

Great helmet, recommendedAug 19, 2010

I love the way it looks, the weight is good, and has the neato slider switch thing to open/close the vents. Also has goggle loop on back. The ear pads are removable from the straps. The finish is mildly textured, which is pretty cool. Recommend.
