Perfect Rain Pants for CyclingApr 09, 2010
By PJ I live in a small city and usually use my bike for transportation. I wanted to be able to ride in the rain without getting soaked, but I didn't want to be wrapped in thick, sweaty plastic or to spend $$$$ on fancy rain pants for cycling. These rain paints are perfect for me. They have kept my bottom half completely dry during heavy downpours, and I don't feel like I'm wrapped in a tarp or something. Well made, too. I will definitely use them for hiking too. For sizing, I'm 5'3" and weigh 117 lbs, and a small is just right for me.
Pro's:
1. Thin and light.
2. Included stuff sack, while small, is big enough.
3. Easy to move in.
4. Fit perfectly over my jeans
5. Look good.
6. I don't sweat in them.
7. Fair price for quality
8. The single pocket on the front leg keeps contents (such as letters) dry and is perfect for keeping my bike key accessible.
9. Velcro at the bottom permits wrapping the cuffs & making the leg opening smaller. The velcro strip isn't long enough to create a snug fit around my ankles, but I could get away without wearing a bike clip if I wanted to. (I use a reflective one anyway, for visibility.)
10. Customer service. My pants arrived in just a couple of days, but I was sent X-Large instead of small. When I looked up Outdoor Kids, I found that they are located in my town. I simply went over there and they immediately handed me the right pair. They were very friendly and helpful - a small, local business that started a mail-order business that is growing quickly.
11. Keep my legs *completely* dry in heavy rain.
Potential con's:
These things don't affect me, but might be important to others.
1. The zippers go almost to my knee, but because the circumference of the rest of the leg is small, I can't take the pants on or off without taking my shoes off, never mind hiking boots. Those who need the pants to go on & off more easily will need to pay for pants with full-zip sides or buy pants with a baggier fit.
2. These rain pants work great when I ride around town, but for a serious cyclist doing a hard workout, sweat might be a problem. The pants are breathable up to a point, but they don't wick or anything. Might be worth a try, though.
All in all, I would most definitely recommend these rain pants.

These pants are awesome!Dec 05, 2009
By K. Duncan I just became a full time bike rider (aka no car) a few months ago and now that the rainy season has come I can't believe how lucky I am to have found these great pants for such a great price! Completely rain AND wind resistant. I wear long skirts sometimes and have to ride to work at 5:00am and I just slip these on over the skirt and it's still comfortable, not bulky, and I stay warm for my entire ride. I'm a huge fan, will definitely get this pair again or at least from this company when these are gone, although they appear sturdy enough so it shouldn't be anytime soon.

Don't care for the fit - probably better for a more "athletic" figureOct 29, 2011
By Elissa I bike sun, rain or blizzard, my old Marmot rain pants recently died after exemplary service. I thought it'd be nice to replace them with these since they looked like they'd have a more attractive fit (really relative, waterproof pants are inevitably ugly) and I liked that they have a pocket and a carry bag.
Since purchasing them and wearing them in a couple storms I've taken to wearing yoga pants in the rain and just getting wet until I buy a replacement, I find them uncomfortable and pointless. I am a girl with hips/ass and a small waist, these pants have a low rise compared to my old Marmot pants and the waist is HUGE like giant it gapes out like a scoop at the back where there isn't any elastic and they're surprisingly restrictive of leg movement.
Dry in downpourFeb 04, 2012
By sacme It takes nerve for a product claiming to be weatherproof to put "hurricane" in it's name, but this pant truly lives up to it. I put it to the test-- outside for hours in the rain and I was dry and comfortable. I bought a small, but it was large enough to wear over my jeans. Having a pocket was nice. Great price.
Best water proof pants for their priceOct 23, 2011
By JimmyKeepCool Not much to say. They keep you dry, they are pretty thin (so you won't get too warm wearing them), and they come with a small carrying bag.
