Feather weight technical mountaineering bootsDec 25, 2011
By sergejf I love the fact that these boots weigh next to nothing, at least compared to expedition boots like the Boreal double-leather monsters. They fit well on my wide feet and are reasonably comfortable. The sole is practically rigid and the boots' heel groove are suitable for quick-release crampons. My heel is quite secure when wearing liners and thicker socks, which makes ice climbing a lot more palatable than with looser fitting boots. I have used those in Winter conditions wading in 3 feet of snow without getting my feet wet or cold. They seem quite waterproof out of the box. I wouldn't recommend these boots for hiking extensive distances, they simply aren't that comfortable. I suppose you can't expect to enjoy extensive trekking in stiff-soled boots anyway.
