Great in powder, good all-aroundFeb 13, 2012
By Sean Paul I have the 188 version of this ski mounted with Dynafit bindings, and have used it in powder, crud and hardpack. In powder, it keeps you on top of the snowpack and makes it incredibly easy to turn and keep in control. The tip is relatively soft compared to other skis and that, along with the rocker, adds to the feeling of control. I've used this primarily as a touring ski while it's a little heavier than some dedicated randonee skis, it's worth the extra weight when you turn it downhill.
The surprising thing about it is the control in crud and hardpack. It's wide underfoot, but the taper and normal under-foot camber makes it easier to control than you might think. I've never had a problem keeping an edge (even on ice) and it stays pretty stable at high speeds. It's not the sweet spot, but good to know it will work in variable conditions.
My only other comment is that the rockered tip and tail cause it to ski shorter than it looks. If you're unsure on size, I would go a size up.
