5Waterproof pants.Dec 30, 2010
By Thomas (Sherri's husband) "BeeMan458"
Needed a pair of waterproof pants for afternoon walks because it rains so much here. I'll have to addend this review as I just received the pants a couple of days ago.

On first inspection, they're an "excellent," well made product. They're not designed as everyday pants but look to be used as outerwear over jogging shorts, basketball shorts or regular jeans. They easily compact to a pint water bottle size for portability and come with their personal netted carrying/storage bag. And at 8.9oz (263g), make an excellent hiking/emergency companion.

A word to the wise, after going to the manufacture web site, yes, these do breath......water "vapor," not liquid sweat and they depend on there being a temperature difference; outside ambient temperature being lower than inside the pants temperature for the most effective venting of moisture vapor. Yes, these can be washed; cold water, mild detergent.

Go to the manufacture's web site. About fifty seconds into the webcast, the host speaks about the need for lower air temperature difference and how it affects the efficiency of moisture vapor venting,

The product is very well priced compared to that of "The North Face" or other popular outdoor brands. Interestingly enough, the "Red Ledge" product line is used by one of the crew highlighted on "Deadliest Catch." And short of going into the ocean itself, it don't get any wetter than what those guys deal with.

I took the pants out today for a one hour, afternoon, New Year's Day walk. It was 36F, snowy/rainy weather; no wind. I wore them over denim jeans. I walked through a wilderness area and residential mountain roads; 2,300'. At no time did I feel cold or wet. They passed with flying colors. I would neither hesitate to recommend these pants to another person, or hesitate to buy another pair or two for my personal outdoor comfort. For the price, these also make for an excellent addition to the emergency Winter car kit.

Hope the above helps.

4About what I expectedApr 16, 2011
By J. Herr
I haven't been able to put them through their paces yet, but a 2-day, rain-all-weekend scout training campout will put them through their paces. What I know already is that they run just a tad small (I wear an XL, and these would be just barely right when worn over underarmor or similar insulating long underwear. Me, I wish I had ordered the XXL. They are thin, taped seams, and just the right length. I'll update the review when I get back!

4AffordableSep 23, 2011

You get what you pay for. It is cheap and affordable. It is not heavy duty raingear like the brand name expensive stuff, but it does the trick just the same. Waterproof! Not water resistant and breathable. Now go get it!

4Red ledge rain pantDec 07, 2011
By Thomas F. Burchill
As a Satellite technician in the Northwest, I work in rain almost all of the time. I am now about to order my 5th & 6th pair of these rain Red Ledge pants because 1. They are very affordable - I often work in rugged conditions where thorns, nails and other stuff shred my pants in about a year. Thus, I am not going to buy stuff costing twice as much when these do the job just fine. 2. They keep me dry in the relentless rains of Oregon and Washington. 3. They are comfortable in keeping me warm in the winter but at the same time does not get me all sweaty when I go work inside. Good stuff overall. However, I would like to see two improvements to this product. 1. Pockets in the front. 2. Reinforcement layer on the rear - It always wears through on the butt because I have to sit and work on roofs that are usually quite abrasive on clothing.

4In Seattle When it Rains it POURSNov 12, 2011
By Frank Arnold "CBAR Book Store"
A few years back I went to Lawranceburg TN USA. It started to rain my Mom said it was a drinchle down pour in 20 mins streets were flooding. My Mom asked me where was my coat I said in the car this is just a sprinkle in Seattle WA USA. Hence the title "In Seattle When it Rains it POURS"

I got the Red Ledge Men's Thunderlight Pant Pull On Rain Pant, Black, Large
Let me give Props to Amazon. I was told after I ordered the pants that they were out of stock, and on back order. about 3 days later I got an email from them saying they had some Good News in stead of being shipped out on the 5th of Nov as est they would be shipping on the 27th of Oct. I was afraid they would cancel the order on me. I ended up getting them like 3 days before my rain coat that was in stock. Thank's Amazon Job well done.

Pros

1. Rolls up tight and fits in the inside breast pocket of my coat.
2. Fits over my shoes (putting on and off).
3. draw cord in waste, no need to wear a belt.
4. Kept me dry on the inside (No rain got in, and no sweat built up)

Cons

1. Only a back pocket.
2. Snaps on cuff are hard to pull apart thinks they will rip out.

Over All

I like the pants fit, and if they hold up while riding to work each rainy day (LOTS OF RAINY DAYS IN SEATTLE)will be a plus.
