First Line of Defense...Sep 19, 2010
By D. S. Thurlow Patagonia's R1 Fleece Pullover is a great base layer for cool and cold weather activities, next to the skin or as an intermediate layer between underclothing and overgarment. The fabric is light, stretchy, comfortable and snug-fitting. The pullover features a deep chest zipper for ventilation, and a small chest pocket for keys or gum or what-have-you. This reviewer uses it under a shirt for spring and fall hiking and layered under R4 fleece for colder weather activity in Alaska.
The R1 Fleece Pullover is highly recommended to fans of quality Patagonia gear.
Wear it out!Feb 21, 2012
By R R The Patagonia R1 pullover is a must for people who like to be outside. It's perfect for carrying in your pack to put on when it gets wet and cold. A perfect underlayer it is very warm and wicks well. It's downside is wind, which easily penetrates. However comma, combined with thin longjohns and a Goretex anorak shell it's unbeatable in comfort and warmth. I tried this combo recently on Mt Moran in WY with excellent results during strenous climbing. Highly recommended.
Best Fleece I OwnAug 08, 2011
By Lincolnite 16 This fleece was bought for a recent backpacking trip to South America. It was lightweight and dried relatively fast. It kept me warm on most hiking/backpacking trips I took in Peru and Chile. On its own, this is not a great fleece for southern Patagonia and its heavy winds. I would recommend pairing it with a lightweight down jacket. Overall probably the best piece of clothing I brought on the trip!
