Avid MountaineerSep 29, 2011
By Brandon Herring Possibly the best base layer on the market. The best I have ever used (comparing to Mountain Hardware & Underarmour Coldgear). Highly recommended to keep you at the right temperature. I bought the entire series (Cap 2,3,4 bottoms and tops) I did not get the Cap 1 set because I never use a baselayer when it is super warm out.
Fit: as described. Loose if you compare to underarmour, but for me the Patagonia fits close, but not tight. I am 1.82 meters tall and 90kg with a 107 cm chest. the large is exactly the right fit for me.

Patagonia capilene baselayers rule!Mar 16, 2012
By Adam I have a few of these Cap 2 baselayers (and one Cap 3) and they rule.
I wear these all the time for outdoor activities when it's cool outside. I live in FL, so most of the cooler months here are pretty mild and a Cap 2 under a t-shirt is enough. But I've also worn these as a base layer when skiing and they work great for that too.
Comfortable
Soft
Moisture-wicking
And best of all, they don't make you look ridiculous like tight under armour shirts do. These do fit snugly, but not super tight like a compression shirt. I also find them to be softer, more breathable, and more comfortable than an UA shirt, especially if the weather starts to turn warmer. I almost always wear this as a baselayer with at least a t-shirt over it, but still nice to know I can take off the t-shirt if need be and not look like a tool trying to show off all my muscles like I would if it was an under armour shirt.
