The Patagonia Guide Softshell Jacket is an innovative and versatile outdoor garment. The snugfitting jacket marries a lightly insulating, brushed fabric interior to a flexible but wind and water resistant exterior with waist to chin zipper. The jacket can be worn next to the skin or over a t-shirt or regular shirt, and under most parkas and regular fit coats, if need be. The jacket has two hand warmer pockets and one chest pocket, and a brushed fabric collar liner. This reviewer uses it for three season hiking in Alaska when light weight and breathability are important. The appearance is suitable for casual wear.
The Guide Softshell Jacket is highly recommended to fans of quality Patagonia gear.

Given the price, and after comparison I found the materials used in construction of this jacket better than those of other manufacturers. The jacket performs well as a breatheable shell during aerobic activity in chilly weather, it is not intended as a single layer for warmth in cold weather.
