Great base layer for skiingDec 19, 2009
By tall-latte Both my son and I wear the Capilene 3 as our base layer skiing in the Pacific Northwest, and they are perfect. I really like Patagonia.
I started out trying the Capilene 2, and it was just too thin. Even the Capilene 3 is a bit thin, but it is perfect for when you will be active. If you aren't planning on being active, then you'll likely want something thicker than the 3. I haven't personally tried the Capilene 4, but I suspect it would be a good option if you don't plan on being active.
I wear the Capilene 3 as my base layer with non-insulated ski pants, and my legs have never been cold.
I received the wrong size even after putting in preferred size... but nice.Jun 03, 2011

"Peace is the only way."
It was showing a choice of large or XL as far as I could recall at that time, and got sent an XL... worn a few times, and still, I am glad I got it a size larger, now. They're truly nice, light, breathable, even after a few wears w/o washing (HIKING) they still smell fresh... great underwear.... Patagonia rules.

By Steve Schreiber These were OK for the money. I got some Cabela's brand bottoms as a gift and love them.
