Perfect as base layer for skiingDec 19, 2009
By tall-latte I love Patagonia, and the Capilene 3 seems perfect for skiing in the Pacific Northwest. I tried the Capilene 2 first, and it was too thin. Even the 3 is a bit thin, which is perfect for when you will be active. If you are looking for warmth and you won't be active, then go with a higher number.

Great even if you don't skiJan 03, 2011
By Newsy1 I don't ski but I do get cold. The Patagonia Capilene 3 isn't just a base layer for outdoor sports, I use them (I have three) for my typical winter weather wear. I can wear one under a fleece and be toasty at 35 to 40 degrees. I hate driving with a big heavy coat or jacket on so the Capilene is perfect for me to wear under lighter layers. They last forever so I don't have to replace them often.
