But unlike the Zeus jacket, the Marmot Venus has been perfectly christened. First, like the goddess Venus herself, this jacket is beautiful. The women’s specific design has been cast in several brilliant colors and has been built, appropriately enough, with Angel-Wing movement to offer graceful dexterity. Of course, Venus is a very hot planet (hot enough to melt lead). Marmot’s Venus too lives up to this standard and has been filled with 800 Fill down to keep you absolutely toasty (though slightly cooler than lead’s liquefying point). Light packable and it breathesMay 19, 2011

I really like this marmot coat. It's so light you don't feel like your wearing anything. It packs down tiny, it actually came in the mail in a document envelope. It did lose a few feathers at first but I have not noticed any lately, I did finally have to wash it and it clumped up and I thought it was ruined, the feathers could be seen and felt in little balls inside the coat, but I laid it flat to dry and after wearing it a few days they all fluffed back out like new. Has two zippered hand pockets and one inside that holds quite a bit, I recently wore it with a phone, itouch, sharpie pen, lip balm, all in that pocket yet it didn't feel bulky. It's warm yet breathes so you don't start sweating in it. Plenty of room to move your arms around without tight feeling in shoulders. I did wear it skiing and if it's windy and super cold you will want to bring a wind breaker to wear over it. As I said it packs so well I plan on taking it camping with me summer to wear at night in the mountains.

Great jacket for the most partDec 18, 2011
By K. Blaine I got this jacket as a gift for my niece for her birthday. She was planning to go on a Boy Scout camping trip with her husband and son, a venture that was tried last year about this time but was not a totally positive experience because of the cold. I hoped that this jacket, together with a down sleeping bag, would help.
She reports that the jacket is attractive and warm. She requested the Methyl Blue color and gets many compliments when she wears the jacket. At first glance, the jacket does not look too warm, as it is quite lightweight. However, it is very warm despite this, and the lightness is great in the car or in stores, restaurants, and so on.
The one issue she has is the sizing. Though it fits well if she is wearing only a turtleneck underneath, a heavy sweater would make this jacket a tight fit. We ordered it in Large to insure against this (she is about a size 8 and usually takes a medium), but an extra large would have been better. So it is a great jacket, but when you order, keep in mind that it runs VERY small.

Good jacket, runs smallJan 09, 2012
By LadyJ2424 I received this jacket for Christmas and love that it is light weight yet warm. I will warn you that it runs small. I normally wear a medium in jackets, but found this to be too small through the chest and shoulders. I would recommend ordering at least one size larger than normal. Nice jacket, without the bulk.
almost perfect, not quiteJan 31, 2012
By polecat I wore this jacket walking my dog around town in Seattle and hiking and snowshoeing in 25 degree weather. I like the slim silhouette, the fact that it packs down easily, and the amount of warmth for the bulk with 800 fill down. I can wear it with a t-shirt if it's not too cold, or with a couple of light layers underneath and a shell on top when it drops to freezing. The down seems to regulate temperature, rarely feeling too hot except with a lot of physical activity. Even at full price all this is pretty good value. However, I have two major complaints. 1) I'm tall, and the sleeves seemed long enough at first, but when I'm driving or layered up for snowsports the elasticized cuffs tends to ride up a couple of inches past my wrists and stay there. 2) Even though I'm fairly slim, the jacket is a bit too close at the hip and the overall cut is a bit boyish and straight-waisted. So the fit isn't as flattering as it could be.
My favorite jacket Ever!Jan 21, 2012
By cards fan I am now a huge fan of Marmot! I like this jacket even better than NorthFace jacket I have worn for several years. This jacket is a beautiful red/dark pink color. But best of all it is so warm but lightweight. I have gotten many compliments on this jacket. Worth every penny!!
