If you want a lightweight, warm, good looking, functional, and highly compressible jacket, get the Marmot Baffin. This jacket compresses as small as my Patagonia down sweater. The material, which is a 15 denier ripstop nylon, is a bit on the shiny side, but, if you can overlook that, you would be hard pressed to find a better jacket for the price. The outer is treated with a DWR so it sheds mist and snow. It is not waterproof, but, it is not designed to be a raincoat. It packs away into the chest pocket and it can be used as a pillow once it is packed. It packs down to slightly larger than a softball and weighs 13.4 oz. I'm very happy with the purchase of this jacket and plan to get many years of use from it. Keep in mind, do not get too close to the campfire with this one. A stray ember will burn through the outer shell. It can be repaired with McNett Tenacious Tape, however. I will primarily use this jacket for dayhikes and backpacking. Makes a great travel jacket as well because it doesn't take up much space in your luggage.

I bought this jacket to use as a packable mid layer for backpacking and other outdoor activities. Marmont did not disappoint! The weight to warmth ratio is great and this light jacket does an excellent job blocking the wind. Breathability seems good, fit is true to size and the cut offers decent range of movement. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a warm yet lightweight jacket for outdoor activities. One last note, the nylon fabric is a bit shiny so if your concerned about that sort of thing you may want to look elsewhere. I myself don't mind it as I did not buy the jacket to make a fashion statement. Overall I give it five stars.
