Fast Acurate and Portable.Jul 16, 2009

This device is small enough to carry in your pocket and is very fast and accurate. Very useful since it can measure water and air temperature. Waterproof and it also floats. I have owned this for about 2 months and I am very happy with it has not let me down.

This is an excellent tool for the long range shooter. I combine it with a pda device with the my ballistics program [...]. There are combined weather/ballistics computers from Kestrel for just a little more. You would not get better data from that kestrel just the convenience of one device. I personally prefer the G7 inputs and data output. I have used this almost daily now for several months and I highly reccomend this product for this particular application.

A least a few times each year we get high winds at our house. I wanted a wind gauge but didn't want to install a complicated weather station, plus a lot of those had bad reviews. The Kestrel 3000 is really nice to just take outside and point into the wind to get wind speed, chill factor, humidity, etc. Compact and portable. I would have given it 5 stars if was just a little faster at showing a temperature change. It's just not as instant as I thought it would be.

Did the job for us in Death Valley!Oct 26, 2010

We ordered this as a tool to track conditions during my husband's attempt at a Solo Badwater Double ultramarathon. This involves crossing Death Valley in August and then Owens Valley and up Mount Whitney! A challenge for a thermometer/hygrometer as well as for the human, so we wound up paying a lot more than originally budgeted to get a device that could halfway handle the humidity readings there. This little device did a great job for us -- we didn't expect high absolute accuracy with single-digit humidity conditions, but the specs on this unit were very good in the extreme regime compared to other devices we looked at and it gave plausible readings under a wide variety of conditions. It was additionally easy for all the crew members to use, even the technophobic.

I bought it for my husband, and he loves it! It is easy to take along and works really well. It is helpful for golfing, boating, and camping, and provides input for detail-oriented people.
