Awesome Backpack for Women/Girls - great for skiingApr 03, 2010

I don't know why this pack is listed as a men's pack when it's not gender specific on any other websites. This may limit who purchases the backpack. I'm female and use this backpack while downhill skiing. I was surprised when I received it because it has so many bonuses: retractable straps to hold my skis, waterproof pouch for my camera, pocket for hydration pouch, long, easily adjustable straps, waist strap... oh, the list goes on. I use it for extra clothing, goggles, water, small camera and snacks. What I love about this backpack is the internal pocket for the hydration pouch. I have the platypus zip top 2 liter reservoir, but I don't fill it up all the way. The tube to the reservoir is insulated by going through an internal slot down the side of the backpack. This helps to keep the tube from freezing in colder temperatures. I love the convenience of having plenty of water to drink while skiing and,it's easily assessible with this backpack. I would say this is a medium backpack size. I found out the Dakine Heli Pro DLX backpack has an insulated waterproof pouch for your camera and the Dakine Heli Pro (no DLX) does not. Other than that the two backpacks are similar. I'm looking forward to using this backpack for day hikes this summer.

I'm 6' 0" - This pack is way too small.Jun 22, 2010

This is a GREAT pack, no doubt about that. But tall guys beware, this pack is intended for the use of men 5' 7" and smaller.... I'm a tad over 6' and it does feel a tad awkward at times... But nonetheless, besides the awkward fitting, this pack is great.

Great pack, great priceJan 30, 2010
By CP Very solid pack - everything you need for one-day sidecountry or backcountry ventures. Enough room for shovel, probe, Camelback, and a few other odds and ends. And at $40 + free shipping ($60 less than anyone else), who wouldn't?

great packMar 29, 2010
By Brrrnt this pack is great. I did not use it to hike, but carried it at a ski resort. plenty of room for everything. I carried my DSLR with telephoto lens in it, and other necesseties for the day. great great bag. I would say the carry feature for the skis is cool, and 2 options for a board, vertical or horizontal.

Bought this for my daughter. I was a leery of purchasing a backpack without first having her try it out in a store, but this worked out fine. The only thing she didn't like was the fact that the waist strap was not removable. It tends to get in the way for school use. Otherwise, construction is good and solid, and I foresee the pack will make it through the school year just fine. Next year, I'll probably get her a Kelty, which DOES have a removable belt, a soft internal frame, and is bombproof for the same price. Just not as 'cute'...
